Palau

Steven Victor is a native of Palau. He received his Msc. in Biology (2002) and BA (1998), University of Guam. Steven was a researcher at the Palau International Coral Reef Center from February 2002 – September 2009.

Steven served various roles at the Nature Conservancy Micronesia Program from 2009 – 2020, including Micronesia Program Director from 2016-2020. Prior to taking on the Minister position, Steven has led work on community based coastal fisheries management , development of alternative livelihood such as aquaculture, introduction of fisheries data poor stock assessment in Micronesia, tuna fisheries reforms, marine protected areas network design, marine protected areas management effectiveness evaluation.

Steven is using knowledge and experience gained through close to 20 years in conservation and management to support MAFE’s visions of Palau where sustainable food production and wise stewardship of marine and terrestrial resources enhances the wellbeing and economic livelihoods of all.
